impact statement
At Mint Pictures we tell stories, human stories, compelling stories, stories that matter and have impact.
DOCUMENTARY
Mint Pictures has produced a myriad of award-winning documentaries. From kids (Bushwhacked! for ABC3) to adults (The Pool for ABC) to exposes (Code of Silence for ABC), as well as blue-chip series (Brilliant Creatures for BBC/ABC & The Pool for ABC), (The Archibald & Food Fighter for Foxtel), (slow TV: The Ghan, The Indian Pacific, The Kimberley Cruise and The Chocolate Factory for SBS), Mint prides itself on documentary story-telling.
KIDS
At Mint we love kids content. Bushwhacked!, our flagship format, spanned three series and became a global smash hit, screening in over 40 countries worldwide, and bagging a slew of awards. Its younger sibling, Bushwhacked! Bugs, premiered in 2016 on ABC3. On Disney, Kim & Courtney’s Theory of Awesomeness has celebrated two seasons of high-octane science meets adrenaline! Currently we are working with ReachOut to produce content for kids struggling with mental health issues.
REALITY TV
At Mint we’ve fused Reality TV with our unashamed love of sport to produce three seasons of Football Superstar, with the winner receiving a contract with either Sydney FC, Melbourne Victory or Brisbane Roar. We also produced one season of Cricket Superstar, with cricket legend Allan Border as chief judge. The winner received a scholarship to Cricket Australia’s Centre of Excellence and a contract with the Victorian Bushrangers. Both of the Superstar formats screened on FOX8. In addition, we produced Wild Card, a one-hour reality show for Nine which followed four female rookie surfers, mentored by Layne Beachley, with the winner getting a ‘wild card’ into the 2015 Australian Open of Surfing in Manly.
ENTERTAINMENT
Entertainment is at the core of what we do at Mint. Nothing showcases that more than Gus Worland: Marathon Man, an entertainment series for the A&E Channel on Foxtel that followed media personality Gus Worland’s battle to shed his kilos and run the New York Marathon. There, waiting at the finish line, was his best mate – Hugh Jackman. From a production on Snow White to a surfing show called Wild Card and a raft of productions for Red Bull, entertainment is the common denominator.
SPORT
Sport is in the DNA of Mint Pictures. That’s why for five years we worked at the Australian Open in Melbourne, producing all of Tennis Australia’s ancillary content, including two daily highlights shows, the official film, and as well as daily online content. But we also use sport to tell human stories – witness Pitch Battle, a 2015 documentary about the Palestinian football team, and Passport to Hope, a 2010 documentary about refugee kids whose integration into Australia has been softened by the world game. Then there’s the Paralympics, Surfing, Volleyball and Rally Driving; all of whom we have produced fast turn-around content for.
LIVE OBs
Under the stewardship of Managing Director Adam Kay, who has live directed at the Olympic Games, Mint produces many live Outside Broadcasts. Recent clients include the Commonwealth Games (Archery), Network Ten (World Rally Championship), Surfing Australia (Australian Boardriders Battle), Australian Paralympic Committee (Tri-Nations Wheelchair Rugby), Red Bull Media House (Red Bull Cape Fear) and Volleyball Australia (Asian Beach Volleyball Championships & Sydney World League). On location Daily Highlights and VT packages have all been produced by Mint Pictures under the supervision of Adam Kay.
CORPORATE
At the core of our business is quality story-telling, and corporate clients are no different. Mint has produced online content for Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson), Optus, KFC, Kellogg’s, TAB, Kia, Red Bull and others we can’t mention! With a creative team and in-house edit facilities, we are able to offer corporate clients a one-stop shop to deliver content at competitive rates.
