Bushwhacked! series 2 sold to Canadian network

Series 2 of Bushwhacked! – Mint Pictures’ smash hit kids TV series – has been sold to TV Ontario in Canada. The Australian Children’s TV Foundation, the international distributor of the format, confirmed this week that the second season of the 13-part series was sold to TV Ontario. The show’s first two seasons have already been sold to Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, Super RTL in Germany, Qantas Inflight Entertainment, Dish Network in the U.S. and Middle East Media. The sale was picked up by industry media, including Worldscreen, Kidscreen and C21 Media. Mint Pictures’ Dan Goldberg, the executive producer of Bushwhacked!, said: “We are thrilled that TVO has acquired Bushwhacked! series two. There are so many similarities between Canada and Australia—wide open land, rich indigenous culture and wonderful wildlife, so we hope the Canadian kids love it as much as their Aussie counterparts.” “We are excited to add this series to our lineup this season,” added Pat Ellingson, the creative head of children’s and parents’ media at TVO. “The whole family can get together; follow the adventures of Kayne and Kamil all while learning about conservation, wildlife and the culture of Australia.” Bushwhacked! series two won the silver plaque at the prestigious Prix Jeunesse awards in Munich and has been selected as a finalist at this year’s Panda Awards at Wildscreen, the pre-eminent awards for wildlife in the film industry. Mint Pictures is currently in final development of series three of the successful series.
