Mint Pictures is producing the live OB of the Red Bull ‘Cape Fear’ event in Sydney, which has been called for Sunday August 31.

The big wave surfing event will be screened on Fuel TV and streamed live on http://www.redbull.tv.

Adam Kay, Head of Programming at Mint Pictures, and Nerissa Tebbutt, Production Manager, will head up more than 50 crew for this one-off event near Cronulla that Red Bull has been planning for two years.

“This is a major big wave surfing event, a one-of-a-kind that the entire surfing world will be watching, and we’re excited that the event has finally been called,” Kay said.

Mark Matthews, the event’s organiser, pulls no punches when he says the location delivers waves that are “pound for pound, the heaviest on Earth”.

“There’s no wave in the world from six to 10 feet that is heavier or more dangerous,” according to Matthews.

Fourteen of the world’s best big wave surfers will converge in Sydney this weekend from all corners of the globe. Forecasters predict waves between 8-10 foot crashing just metres before a deadly cliff face.

Surf legends including Kobi Aberton, Bruce Irons, Ian Walsh and Jamie O’Brien will battle each other and one of the most dangerous waves on the planet.

Mint Pictures is also producing a one-hour documentary on the event, by award-winning director, Macario de Souza.
