Pitch Battle, a one-hour documentary on the Palestinian football team, won an Australian Sports Commission media award.
The documentary, screened on ABC Foreign Correspondent in April, won the best depiction of the value of sport to Australians in a community setting at the awards ceremony on November 26.
Pitch Battle beat three other finalists to the prize – Fairfax Media, Inside Sport and The Sunday Telegraph.
Filmed over five months in Gaza, the West Bank, The Philippines, and Australia, Pitch Battle captured the human story of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the eyes of ordinary players who love football but struggle to compete on a level playing field.
The ASC Media Awards are the only dedicated sports media awards in Australia.
Pitch Battle was also selected as a finalist in the Sport Media Pearl Awards in Abu Dhabi in December.
