Mint Pictures is co-producing a landmark documentary series with Serendipity Productions with the working title of ‘Wizards of Oz’ hosted by Booker Prize-winning author Howard Jacobson.
The two-part series, to be aired by ABC1 and BBC4, focuses on four of Australia’s greatest expats – Barry Humphries, Clive James, Germaine Greer and Robert Hughes – who all left in the late 1950s and early ’60s, became icons and iconoclasts, revolutionising the cultural kingdoms of London and New York.
Directed by Paul Clarke (Whitlam, Wide Open Road), it is being shot in London, Cambridge, New York and Australia.
The series has been funded by Screen Australia, Screen NSW, ABC, BBC and ABC Commercial.
