Bushwhacked! – the smash-hit wildlife meets Indigenous series for kids created by Mint Pictures – has won an award at the prestigious Prix Jeunesse International festival in Munich.
The first episode from series II was selected to be screened at last week’s festival, and was nominated for the children’s jury in non-fiction (7-11).
The top prize was taken out by Heroes & Hooligans, a kids series from the Netherlands, but the Whale Shark episode of Bushwhacked! came in second spot and won a medal.
Bushwhacked! was competing against the world’s top 25 kids’ shows.
The news comes as another episode from series II has been selected to be screened at the Wildscreen Panda Awards in the UK in October. The Sea Eagle episode was nominated in the Children’s Choice Awards.
And in Canada last week, Bushwhacked! was nominated for the Rockie Awards, and was screened in front of leading TV executives.
Dan Goldberg, Mint’s executive producer of Bushwhacked!, said: “To receive anything at Prix Jeunesse is an honour but to have been voted on by kids is extra special. It shows the series cuts through and has global appeal, which is the ultimate accolade,” he said.
