‘Brilliant Creatures’, the two-part ABC series co-produced by Mint Pictures, has been nominated for the AACTA award for best documentary.

Hosted by Booker Prize-winning author Howard Jacobson, ‘Brilliant Creatures’ traces the lives of four of Australia’s greatest cultural exports and iconoclasts – satirist Barry Humphries, feminist Germaine Greer, broadcaster and poet Clive James and art critic Robert Hughes.

The documentary, which was selected to screen at Sheffield Documentary Festival in June, is up against ‘The Network’ (SBS), ‘Tender’ (ABC) and ‘Taking on the Chocolate Frog’ (Foxtel).

Directed by Paul Clarke and financed by ABC, BBC, Screen Australia and Screen NSW, it received critical acclaim when it aired on BBC4 and ABC1 earlier this year.

It was a co-production between Mint Pictures and Serendipity Productions, and is distributed internationally by TCB Media.
