Food Fighter has been nominated in three documentary categories for this year’s Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) Awards.
Mint’s feature documentary follows OzHarvest CEO & founder Ronni Kahn on her crusade against the global scandal of food waste, as she takes on government and big business, locks horns with Jamie Oliver’s juggernaut and holds Qantas and Woolworths – both of whom are in partnership with OzHarvest – to account.
Food Fighter is nominated for best documentary (general), best documentary (social and political issues) and best documentary (biography).
Since 1982, the ATOM Awards have been celebrating the best of Australian and New Zealand screen content from the education sector and screen industry professionals.
They are the second-longest-running film and media awards in Australia, behind the AFI/AACTA Awards, having been held annually for over 35 years.
ATOM is an independent, not-for-profit, professional association that has been promoting the study of media and screen literacy for over 50 years.
Food Fighter has already won two Hollywood International Independent Documentary Awards and a social impact award from a festival in Los Angeles.
It has been selected for numerous festivals, here and overseas, including in South Africa, Europe and America.
Food Fighter was directed and produced by Dan Goldberg, with Adam Kay and Simon Nasht as executive producers. It was funded by Screen Australia, Foxtel, which will air the TV hour later this year, and private philanthropy via Documentary Australia Foundation.
It is available for screenings via www.Fan-Force.com.
