Mint Pictures’ latest production follows the staggering story of Alex Kurzem, a Jewish boy who witnesses the murder of his family, survives the Holocaust by becoming the ‘Nazis’ youngest soldier, has four false names, two mistaken family reunions and now, thanks to DNA, is on the cusp of discovering his true identity on his deathbed…

Part of the story has been told twice previously – in an award-winning documentary on the ABC in 2002 and in a best-selling book that was translated into over a dozen languages – both were titled ‘The Mascot’.

But the full story has never been told before.

The Nameless ‘Nazi’ (working title) has been commissioned by SBS as part of its 2023 ‘Australia Uncovered’ strand and will air later in 2023.

It is directed by Dan Goldberg, co-produced by Benjamin Strum and executive produced by Adam Kay. It is financed by SBS, Screen Australia and Screen NSW.
