Dan Whelan is a producer/director whose skillset includes development, shooting, writing, editing and post-producing.
Dan’s breakout film was ‘Bulkland’ (SBS, 2017), a documentary exploring a Chinese market city and its inhabitants. It was broadcast across the world.
Dan has since worked as a creative producer across factual, lifestyle and documentary programming for ABC, SBS, Ten, Nine and the Discovery Channel.
He first joined Mint in 2017 to produce Australia’s first slow TV documentary ‘The Ghan’, which accrued 715,000 overnight viewers for SBS and a barrage of media attention.
He has since worked on numerous Mint productions, including ‘John Eales Reveals: The Haka’ (Discovery, 2017), which won the AIPS Sports Media Award in Switzerland from the world’s peak professional body representing international sports media, and ‘Birdsville Or Bust’, (SBS, 2021), which won the Asian Creative Academy Award for Best Documentary.

Mel started her career in the arts and entertainment industry eighteen years ago as an actor and theatre producer.
