Mint Pictures’ latest feature documentary will premiere on SBS and SBS on Demand on May 31.
The Hunt For The Last Nazis exposes the scandalous story of how thousands of alleged Nazi war criminals hid in Australia after World War II and managed to evade justice – despite a last-ditch attempt by a Special Investigations Unit desperate to prosecute them.
Driven by an investigative journalist’s decades-long search for answers, the film unfolds as a true crime history-mystery, revealing a cover-up at the highest levels of government.
Commissioned by SBS, the documentary is one of three films featured in SBS’s premium documentary strand, ‘Australia Uncovered’.
Its release comes on the back of limited cinema screenings to full houses in Sydney and Melbourne.
A crowd of around 700 people filled The Ritz in Randwick on April 12, while in Melbourne two cinemas were packed at The Classic on April 19.
The Hunt For The Last Nazis was directed by Dan Goldberg with Craig Graham as executive producer. Director of Photography was Nathan Barlow, film editor was Mark Middis and post-producer and co-writer was David Roach.
The Hunt for the Last Nazis is a Mint Pictures production for SBS. Principal production funding from Screen Australia and SBS. Financed with support from Screen NSW and philanthropic donations via the Australian Cultural Fund.
