Creative Director

Dan is a multi-award-winning writer, producer and director who has been at Mint Pictures since its opening day in 2007.

Since then he has helped build Mint’s reputation as one of Australia’s leading production companies producing premium factual, documentary, kids and entertainment shows for networks at home and overseas.

His credits include Passport to Hope for Foxtel, which won the 2010 UN Human Rights Award for TV; Bushwhacked! Series 1, 2 and 3 for ABC3, NITV and Disney, which has won a slew of international awards, including the 2014 Asian TV Award for Best Children’s Show of the Year, 2015 Science Award at the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival and a Gold Remi at the 2015 WorldFest in Houston, as well as the silver award at the prestigious Prix Jeunesse in 2014 and Logie nominations in 2015 and 2016; Code of Silence for ABC, which won the 2014 Walkley Award for Best Documentary; Brilliant Creatures for ABC & BBC, which won the 2015 NSW Premier’s History Prize and was a finalist for the 2015 Logies and AACTA awards; Pitch Battle for ABC, which won the 2015 Australian Sports Commission award, the 2015 Ellie Award and the 2016 Bronze Medal at the New York Festivals World’s Best TV & Film; Strictly Jewish, which won the 2016 Screen Producers of Australia award for best single documentary; The Archibald for Foxtel, which was nominated for the Australia Director’s Guild award;The Haka for Discovery, which won the 2018 New York Festivals of Film & TV Award; Food Fighter, a feature-length documentary on the global scandal of food waste, which won two Hollywood International Independent Documentary Awards; The Secret Life of Death for SBS, which was nominated for the 2019 Screen Producers Documentary of the Year; The Bowraville Murders, which was selected for the 2021 Sydney Film Festival and won the Special Jury Award at FIFO in 2021; Finding The Archibald and Great Southern Landscapes, both for the ABC and hosted by Rachel Griffiths; Sky Blue: Inside Sydney FC for Paramount+; Great Australian Walks for SBS, hosted by Julia Zemiro; and The Jewish Nazi?, which won best feature documentary at the Cannes World Film Festival in 2023.

Dan has lived and worked in the UK, the Middle East and now Australia. In between, he’s travelled across Central and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. 

Biography

Dan is a multi-award-winning producer who began his career in newspapers and magazines. He then authored a book published by Lonely Planet Publications and launched at the Melbourne International Writers Festival.
