SBS has revealed Mint’s latest documentary, ‘Birdsville Or Bust’, will air on the multicultural broadcaster SBS on Tuesday, 12 January 8:30pm and on SBS VICELAND at 10:10pm on Sunday, 17 January, at 10:10pm.
‘Birdsville Or Bust’ was announced as part of SBS’s Upfronts on Wednesday 18th November 2020.
Filmed over 18 months in the remote Outback town known for its iconic pub, it follows a cast of locals as their solitude is invaded twice a year by up to 20,000 partygoers who transform this quiet outpost into a riot of colour.
But it’s also what happens when the tourists are gone, the mercury hits 49.5 Celsius and the army of flies occupy this remote town. With four of the main businesses up for sale – including the historic Birdsville Hotel – this is a tumultuous year for this bucket-list destination.
It was commissioned by SBS for its Untold Australia strand and financed by Screen Australia and SBS.
It was written and directed by Dan Goldberg, produced by Daniel Whelan, shot by Brendan Busby, edited by Sally Moran and executive produced by Adam Kay.
Stay tuned for the air date.
