The Bowraville Murders, a feature-length documentary about the 30-year battle for justice over the murders of three Aboriginal kids, has won the Special Jury Prize at the 2022 FIFO Film Festival in Tahiti.
The documentary, directed by Allan Clarke and produced by Mint Pictures and Jumping Dog Productions, was released in cinemas last year and aired on SBS as part of its ‘Australia Uncovered’ strand. It also screened at the 2021 Sydney Film Festival.
The win was announced at the closing ceremony in Tahiti on February 11.
Director Allan Clarke was in the French Polynesian island to collect the award.
The film was financed by SBS, Screen Australia and Screen NSW, as well as a crowd funding campaign via the Documentary Australia Foundation. Stefan Moore and Dan Goldberg produced and wrote the doco; Adam Kay and Susan Lambert were executive producers; Mark Middis was editor and Anna Cater co-producer.
