Bushwhacked! – the smash hit kids format created and produced by Mint Pictures – has been selected as a finalist at this year’s Screen Producer Australia Awards.
Series 2 of the 13-part adventure across Australia with Kayne Tremills and Kamil Ellis was selected on Monday in the children’s TV category alongside Nowhere Boys, among others.
Voting opens to SPA members on Monday to determine the winner in each category. The awards will be presented at the SPA conference in Melbourne from November 17-20.
Bushwhacked! series 2 is also a finalist in the upcoming Panda Awards at the Wildscreen Festival in Britain, where it is up against David Attenborough. The awards will be presented on October 23, with the Sea Eagle episode of Bushwhacked! screened on October 28.
The news comes as Mint Pictures has finished development on series 3 of the popular show, and hopes to deliver 13 more high-octane episodes in early 2015.
The format has been sold by the Australian Children’s TV Foundation to territories in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America, with more than 40 countries now airing series 2.
