Bushwhacked! series 3 has been shortlisted for the 2015 Atom Awards in the best children’s TV category.
The new series of the smash hit format by Mint Pictures, which screens in over 40 countries worldwide, once again sees Kayne Tremills and Kamil Ellis crisscross remote Aboriginal Australia in search of endangered and deadly animals.
It premiered on ABC3 in May 2015 to rave reviews, with the Sydney Morning Herald describing it as “a cracker”.
“The future of purpose-made Australian content for younger persons is constantly in peril and, when you see a show like Bushwhacked!, it seems all the more important that local networks keep investing in it,” it said.
Bushwhacked! series 2 picked up a swag of awards, including the best kids TV series at the 2014 Asian TV Awards and the Gold Remi Audience Award from WorldFest in Houston in 2015. It was a finalist at the AIB awards in London, Kidscreen in America, the TELAS Awards in Brazil, the Rockie Awards in Canada and the SPA awards in Australia, as well as a nominee at the 2015 Logie Awards.
The Atom Awards, which recognise film and media excellence in education, will be presented on November 26 in Melbourne. The finalists in the kids TV category can be viewed here: http://atomawards.org/2015-tertiary-industry-category/best-childrens-television-program/
