A moving tribute to the late Clive James aired on the ABC, just days after he died on November 24.

More than 450,000 people (metro) tuned in to the half-hour tribute to the ‘Kid from Kogarah’, featuring Barry Humphries, Melvyn Bragg, Martin Amis, Simon Schama, Kathy Lette, Dick Cavett, Howard Jacobson and others lavishing praise on the poet, writer, TV critic, broadcaster and all round polymath.

The tribute was made following the 2014 broadcast of Brilliant Creatures, a two-part series for the ABC on Australia’s four greatest expats — Clive James, Barry Humphries, Germaine Greer and Robert Hughes – made by Mint Pictures and Serendipity Pictures.

It was nominated for an AACTA and a Logie. James died aged 80.
