‘Code of Silence,’ a documentary co-produced by Mint Pictures and Identity Films, has received funding from Screen Australia.
‘Code of Silence’, directed and co-written by Danny Ben-Moshe, follows the parallel journeys of a strictly Orthodox father and his now-secular son, after the son goes public with his story of being sexually abused as a student.
The 26-minute documentary is produced for the ABC by Mint Pictures’ Dan Goldberg and Adam Kay and is also co-written by Goldberg. It is already in production with filming set to be completed by the end of the year and the documentary set to screen in 2014 on Compass, ABC’s weekly slot for documentaries about faith and ethics.
“Working with Danny Ben-Moshe, who has directed several films with Jewish content, has been a great partnership,” Goldberg said. “This film is contemporary, newsy, confronting and unfolding. And it isn’t solely focussed on the Orthodox community. Child sexual abuse has been evident across the Jewish community.”
The film is also funded by Screen NSW, Film Victoria and the ABC.
