Food Fighter, Mint Pictures’ feature-length documentary on food waste, has been selected for several international film festivals.
The film, which follows OzHarvest CEO & founder Ronni Kahn on her crusade to end the global scandal of food waste, will screen at the annual film festival in Johannesburg at the end of September (African premiere), the Warsaw Film Festival in mid-October (European premiere), the Cape Town International Film Festival, also in October and the Social Justice Film Festival in Seattle.
Filmed over two years and across four continents, Food Fighter follows Kahn’s crusade against food waste as she partners with the United Nations in Bangkok, rubs shoulders with British royalty and Jamie Oliver’s juggernaut in London, while holding government and big business to account in Australia.
The feature-length documentary went on cinema release around the country with Village Roadshow and Events Cinemas after it was officially launched at the State Theatre of NSW on June 3, ahead of World Environment Day.
The film has previously screened at multiple festivals in Australia and won two Hollywood Independent International Documentary Awards, for best feature and best direction (April 2018), and a Social Impact Award from a festival in Los Angles.
It has also been screened at Parliament House in Canberra. The TV version will air on Foxtel later this year.
It was directed and produced by Dan Goldberg and executive produced by Adam Kay and Simon Nasht.
Funded by Screen Australia, Foxtel and private philanthropy via Documentary Australia Foundation, Food Fighter is available for screenings via the www.Fan-Force.com platform. It is also available for corporate screenings together with Q&As.
