Food Fighter, Mint’s feature documentary on the global scandal of food waste, has won two Hollywood documentary awards.

Officially selected in the Hollywood International Independent Documentary Festival, the film won in the best feature documentary category and the best director category for April 2018.

Filmed over two years and across four continents, Food Fighter follows Ronni Kahn, the founder of the Australian food rescue charity OzHarvest, as she wages a crusade against the global food waste scandal, partnering with the United Nations in Bangkok, rubbing shoulders with British royalty and clashing with Jamie Oliver’s juggernaut in London, while holding the government to account in Canberra.

The inspirational story of one woman’s battle to save perfectly edible food and give it to the hungry and homeless, it reveals the inconvenient economic, social and environmental truths about food waste.

It has been selected for a film festival in Spain and another in America, and won the Social Impact Award 2018 at A Show for a Change Festival in Los Angeles.

The official premiere is at the State Theatre in Sydney on June 3, followed by a limited cinema tour starting June 7.

The film will also available on-demand via www.fan-force.com, and a shortened version will screen on Foxtel Lifestyle later this year.

Food Fighter was directed and produced by Dan Goldberg. The executive producers were Simon Nasht and Mint’s MD, Adam Kay. Screen Australia supported it with development and production funding. Flame Distribution is the sales agent.
