John Eales Reveals: The Haka follows former Wallabies captain John Eales on an immersive journey into the heart of the All Blacks Haka, the greatest pre-match ritual in world sport.

Eales infamously turned his back on it in 1996 – twice – and has lived with regret since then. Two decades on, he is embarking on his road to redemption, enlisting former All Black captain Wayne ‘Buck’ Shelford as his mentor.

Shelford, who led the All Blacks undefeated between 1987 and 1990, takes Eales across New Zealand’s north island to uncover the deep historical and cultural significance of the Haka.

Shelford is credited with transforming the All Blacks Haka in the mid-1980s from an uncoordinated dance into a theatrical spectacle.

The documentary also features several former Wallabies and former All Blacks, including Peter FitzSimons and Andrew Mehrtens.

It is written & directed by Steve Pasvolsky, produced by Dan Goldberg and Daniel Whelan, with Adam Kay as executive producer.
