Toy Soldier, the five-part podcast series inspired by Mint’s 2024 documentary, Hitler’s Jewish Soldier?, has been nominated for a prestigious Banff Rockie Award.
Commissioned by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Toy Soldier dropped in February 2025 and trended on Apple US and Apple Canada, which picked up the show as a ‘New and Noteworthy’.
The nomination comes on the back of Toy Soldier’s nod for the best podcast at the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) awards.
At Banff, Toy Soldier is up against Betrayal (iHeart Podcasts, USA); Final Thoughts: Jerry Springer (Audible Originals, USA); First Conviction (RTE, Ireland); and What Could Go Wrong (Audible, USA).
It is among a clutch of Australian productions to be nominated for a Rockie Award, including SBS drama Reckless, Prime Video’s The Narrow Road to the Deep North, Foxtel’s MixTape and SBS Digital Original’s Moonbird.
Hitler’s Jewish Soldier? won the best documentary (history and biography) Rockie Award at Banff in Canada in 2025.
This year’s winners will be announced on June 16 in Banff.
